Dominant duo lead Hampshire charge

Friday, April 13, 2012

RUGBYTALENTED players Freddie Boyce and Will Vaughan played their part in a great win for Hampshire under-14s against Middlesex.

Ryde Academy student Freddie, and Ryde School student Will travelled to Basingstoke for the match, hoping to maintain the team’s winning record.

A very physical Middlesex side started at a furious pace and raced into an early 12-3 lead but team captain Freddie worked hard at prop to inspire the Hampshire pack, who began to win some decent ball and shortly before half-time the IW duo teamed up to score a converted try, Will powering over.

In the second half, Hampshire gradually wore the opposition down and Freddie burrowed over from close range following excellent work from his fellow forwards.

Two further tries also by the pack resulted in Hampshire winning 25-19.

Hampshire won all their matches this season and proud Freddie, who is now on the books of London Irish, is looking forward to seeing his team develop over the next couple of seasons and become one of the leading teams in the region.
