Friendly contest

Friday, January 3, 2014

JUST two points separated Sandown and Shanklin rugby players past and present at the club’s annual friendly.

Club members were joined by players from IW rugby club, including Angus and Andrew Brown, James Curran and Tom Hatch and in the end the first team came from behind to defeat the "Exiles" 29-27.

There were tries aplenty for both sides, with scores in the first half for Dave Graham, two, Sam Tyson, Michael Booth and Adam Tyas. Conversions came from Neil Buckingham and Cameron Mitchell.

In the second half, there were scores for Haydn Ambler, Aiden Price, Buckingham, Ben Kulik and David Woolfenden.

A brilliant tap-tackle from Simon Swallow at the death to prevent a try, had one of the biggest cheers of the game.
