Makeshift side shatter Stoneham

Todd Riches, centre, was man of the match.

RUGBY

Stoneham 0, Ventnor 78

VENTNOR, having been forced to travel with a makeshift squad, were still able to run out convincing winners against bottom of the table Stoneham.

With 12 players missing due to personal commitments on what was supposed to be a spare weekend, and only having played one game since the beginning of December, the Islanders were forced to promote players from the second team squad with many playing out of position.

Despite these mass changes, Ventnor ran in 12 tries, with captain Danny Newbury top scoring with three.

This was supported with a brace for Ross Harris and single tries for Gavin Davis, Ed Blake, Harrison Marsh, Ben Lush, Wightlink man of the match Todd Riches, Dean Magnursson and George Poulet.

Nine of the tries were converted, kicked by Todd and Warren Riches.

Warren and Nolan Winter shared the A. J. Wells Black Dog award.

Ventnor: Malkin, Newbury, Jesney, Woodman, Winter, Pikard, Magnursson, Marsh, Cooper, T. Riches, Lush, Harris, Davis, Poulet, W. Riches, Pratt, Blake.
