RUGBYNew Milton 24, Vectis 5
A reshuffled Vectis side put on a tremendous defensive display against their Division 1 opponents.
From the start, the defence had to be on their mettle and it took nearly 20 minutes before the home side broke through.
In the second period, after a second Milton try, BAE man of the match Robbie Southwell, playing his first game in the Vectis backs, was strong to break through and score.
Every member of the Vectis squad tackled ferociously and were unlucky when a clearance was charged down for try number three in the final period.
A fourth try flattered the home side but Vectis coach Chris Marsh told his team afterwards they had made him proud with their never-say-die attitude. Utility forward Lewis Jones won the Wightlink man of the match in the pack.
