Sunday, April 2, 2017 - 16:56

VENTNOR took a huge step towards retaining their place in Hampshire 1 with a historic win over Sandown and Shanklin on Saturday.
Ventnor's 24-15 victory - their first over the Hurricanes for more than 15 years - moved them four points clear of Romsey, with the two sides battling to stay out of the final relegation place.

The teams have one match to play on Saturday, with Ventnor travelling to Ellingham and Ringwood, while Romsey play the Isle of Wight at Wootton.

Elsewhere, the Island were beaten 36-19 by Fareham Heathens.
