THE Isle of Wight gained their first league victory over Sandown and Shanklin for more than ten years on Saturday.
The Island’s 29-25 victory followed an enthralling encounter at Wootton recreation ground.
It was their first win over their rivals since 2004.
The two sides’ second teams also went to head-to-head in a low scoring match, which Sandown won 5-0.
Also in Hampshire 1, Ventnor lost 32-14 at Farnborough.
