RUGBYIW 34, Locksheath Pumas 0
FROM the first whistle it was plain to see that the IW were determined to put the previous weekend’s loss behind them as they bombarded Locksheath.
IW constantly made in-roads into the Pumas half and they were only prevented from scoring by an over-eagerness at important times.
Yet the first score was not long in coming.
A quick tapped penalty was fed to Andy White to crash over, then continued pressure on the visitor’s line allowed Phil Baldwin to dance over and convert his own try.
Pumas response was to hoof the ball the length of the pitch but the Island’s forwards were dominant in the driving maul.
Further pressure on the visitors allowed Neil Brading to step inside the defence for a gap to part in front of him and score, Baldwin adding the conversion.
The domination of territory and ball continued and it was White who again scored, the Island turning over a scrum and the number eight powering away from 20 metres.
Further pressure allowed Nathan Tombleson to complete a forward drive and Brading finished off a fine handling move.
Lymington Precision Engineers man of the match went to Sandy Wilson for an all-round back row display.
