THE IW’s season ended last week with a defeat against Spalding.
Playing their league rugby three divisions above the IW, Lincolnshire side Spalding played in the spirit of touring sides but with a physicality the Island were not accustomed to.
The first half ended quite close, Spalding holding a 14-12 lead after an unconverted try from flanker Noel Finn a second try from Dean Jennings, converted by Gareth Paisley.
However, Spalding pulled away in the second half, scoring four tries.
