Vectis 27, Fordingbridge 3

VECTIS maintained their unbeaten start in the league, to record a convincing victory against a stubborn and resilient Fordingbridge side.

The Islanders dominated the early play and took the lead when Ben Buckingham powered over for the try. A succession of penalties allowed Fordingbridge back in to the game and they slotted over a penalty kick in front of the posts.

The away side were then caught sleeping as a quickly taken lineout shortly before half time allowed the Islanders to increase their lead with Tom Hatch going over.

Vectis upped their game in the second half and continuous pressure on the Fordingbridge line was rewarded with a trio of tries from Entwhistle, Anthony Newell and Josh Robinson, one of which was converted.

But for some excellent last-ditch tackling from the Fordingbridge backs, the score could have been much greater.

Vectis: Clarke, Penner, Wallace, Ridley, Gadd, Hatch, Bilton, Murray, Overton, A. Newell, Entwhistle, Jones, Norman, Cotterell,  Robinson, Buckingham, Marsh, Chetter, Tutt, P. Newell, Thompson, Fretwell.
