Action from the Vectis under-13s v Trojans match.
Vectis under-13s 14, Trojans 5
THE windy weather provided a window of opportunity for Vectis to deliver a well-earned victory over Trojans in the first cup game of the season.
The hosts won the toss, choosing to kick into the wind for the first half. Within four minutes, catching Trojans off guard, Max Fletcher scored the first try of the match behind the posts with Wightlink man of the match Luke Margham making the conversion for another couple of points.
With confidence high, it was not long before the pressure got to Trojans once more. With excellent performances from the forwards in the scrum and rucks it left the backs clear to do their job with a wonderful running move ending with Margham going over, and he converted again to make it 14-0.
Trojans then stepped up a gear to put Vectis on the back foot for the rest of the first half with Harvey Ward from Trojans capitalising on some poor defence from the home side to score a try,
The second half, with the strong wind in Vectis’s favour, should have given the home team the advantage needed to pull further ahead but, with solid defence once again from the opposition and Vectis conceding a number of penalties in Trojan territory, the second half drew to a close without further score.
