RUGBY VENTNOR led the way for the Island’s top rugby sides with a big win in Hampshire Two on Saturday.

They romped to a 57-15 win at home to Solent Nomads, with tries coming thick and fast from Jake Babington, two, Ollie Davis, Chris Dobas, Sam Pickard, Damien Marriott, Ben Cooper, Ross Harris and Scott Jesney.

Unfortunately, other results did not go quite the same way. Sandown and Shanklin lost 20-8 to Old Blues in London South West 3, IW lost 29-15 to Petersfield in Hampshire One.

In the Merit leagues, Sandown and Shanklin II lost 9-6 to Eastleigh II in Merit One, while IW II lost 20-12 to Lymington Mariners II in Merit Three.

• Full reports in the Friday, November 23, County Press.
