RUGBYRUGBY fanatic Zoe Wilmot-Amies has landed her dream job — helping to run this year’s women’s Rugby World Cup.
Zoe, 28, of Bellevue Road, Cowes, beat off competition from more than 150 others to land one of 14 roles as a voluntary team liaison officer. She has been assigned to work with the USA team, travelling with them at all times, helping sort administration issues and standing pitchside for all their matches, which take place at the Surrey Sports Park, in Guildford.
Even if the USA team departs the competition early, former Medina High School student Zoe will remain for the duration, helping to run the rest of the competition, including the final — at The Stoop, home of Harlequins — on September 5.
"I am very nervous but so excited. I never once believed I would get the job," she said. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and hopefully it will open up more opportunities for me."
Zoe, who plays rugby for new club Ventnor Ladies, is also a sports therapist, and spends her Saturdays during the winter acting as physio for Ventnor RFC.
"It will be nice to be pitchside without running on every ten minutes treating injured players," she said. "It is a great feeling to be a part of such a huge event."
Zoe, who works for Medina Housing, thanked her employers and Ventnor RFC, for their support.
