Charity needs more runners

The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust is looking for runners to contest next year's Flora London Marathon and help fight leukaemia.

At any one time there are over 7,000 people, many of whom are children, waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

Anyone running for the trust will be joining a team dedicated to beating leukaemia and helping sufferers whose only chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant.

Paul Rushton, events and projects manager for the trust, said: "In 1999 we celebrate 25 years of life-giving service with our Silver Lining Appeal.

"Our aim is to recruit an additional 120,000 donors before the millennium and ensure a brighter future for many more of the patients suffering from bone marrow deficiency diseases."

Paul added: "It costs the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust £50 to fully tissue type every potential donor joining the register.

"Any money you raise may well help to save the life of a patient in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant living near you."

The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust runs the world's largest register of potential donors and currently has 287,000 potential donors on the register.

If you have a place in the 1999 Flora London Marathon and would like to run for the trust, contact Paul on 01865 875758.
