SAILINGBEMBRIDGE SC
More than 60 youngsters attended another very successful cadet week, blessed by some excellent sailing weather.
The club thanked all the instructors and helpers both on and off the water who made the week a success.

Sharman Trophy (Laser most improved); Ollie Joy. Clegg Tankard (Laser B group racing); Ben Stoddart-Stones. Genevieve Trophy (overall Laser racing); Jos Laughton-Scott. Salamander Trophy (best under-15 cadet); Iso Paskin-Orr. Amelia Jessel Prize (best under-18 cadet); George Matthews. Although programmed, there were no takers for the Redwing and One-Design races during the week.
Tom Scott was first over the line at Cowes in the Redwing Passage Race on Friday.
D. Orange beat James Row in the One-Designs on Friday. On Saturday there were seven boats and although Row was first over the line, he went round the penultimate buoy the wrong way so failed to complete the course. This put Rosanna Beart up to first, John Harbord-Hamond second and Donald Biddle third.
On Sunday, Will Harbord-Hamond won the Bavarian Tankard (under-19 helms, crew any age), Beart was second and Ollie Joy was third.
D Orange, after some tenacious sailing particularly in the second round, came in a minute ahead of Mark Grzegorczyk and Sophie Bonham.
YARMOUTH SC
Scows Week ended on Friday with all nine points races completed.
David Hedley was the overall winner of the GRP class, with Peter Giles second and Graeme Bowen, third. The WWSC champion was Harry Jones with Glyn Davies in second, and Dick Davis, third.
Peter was first in the GRP passage race to Newtown and Martin Palmer won the WWSC trophy. Martin was also the overall winner of the return race sailed in very challenging conditions. The unplaced helms race was won by Sue Denton.
The ladies and the gents races were won by Melinda Measor and John Bennet respectively. In the ladies verses gents team race, the ladies won by 22 points.
Race 4 of the allcomers series was sailed in a WSW Force 3 on Saturday.
Chris Morphy gained first place in his Gull followed by Lizzie Gillett’s Oppie and Roger P-E’s Scow.
There was a stronger Force 4-5 wind on Sunday for the first race in the August series. Lizzie gained first place in the Oppies ahead of Georgia Kearns. In the handicap class, the Picos took the first three places with Alex Campbell first, Josh Hughes second and Emma Gillett, crewed by Cameron Sellers, third.
In the GRP Scows, Melinda was back on form to take the win with John second and Nick Measor third. Martin was first in the WWSC followed by Damien Bedding second and Dick third.
ISLAND SC
A good force 5 breeze greeted the fleet of 43 boats in the ISC evening series. The race officer set a two-round course for each of the seven classes.
Towards the end of the racing the wind dropped dramatically and the last boat finished with six minutes to spare before the time limit.
The Shrape Mud claimed two victims which, with the help of the ISC rib and their own steam, broke free.
YAVERLAND YC
The club’s two-day regatta takes place this weekend .
Racing starts at noon tomorrow (Saturday) and 11 am and 1pm on Sunday. There will be a barbecue over both days and live music tomorrow night.
