Small and medium sized businesses should adapt and profit from changing business trends and the growth in international trade, according to John Cox, director of international business for Croydon-based Moores Rowland Accountants.

John spoke of the need for businesses to move with the times at a meeting of the newly formed Croydon Rotary Breakfast Club.

The club for senior business and professional men and women living in working in Croydon, and links opportunities for community service with the benefits of regular meetings with other key people in the town.

Members meet every Wednesday morning for breakfast at the Wellesley Hotel, Lansdowne Road, Croydon.

John Cox is responsible for co-ordinating the business development of accountancy units in nearly 100 countries.

He has seen many of the larger UK companies rapidly establishing footholds in developing countries and says they carry with them the need for a range of business services which UK and Croydon businesses could deliver.

But he warns that businesses must be aware of the different attitudes and cultures around the world.

At an earlier meeting members listened to a presentation by Veronica Davies, director of Catherine Johnstone Recruit-ment and Training on the importance of treating staff correctly.

More information on the club and the future programme of speakers is available from Jim Spinks, the Rotary co-ordinator on 01883 625 132.
