AN ISLAND special school has taken centre stage in a short film it hopes will give an insight into life there.
St George’s School became the latest project for former Islander and filmmaker Nick Price.
Following a visit to school last summer, Nick, who is now Bristol-based, has created an eight-minute film showing some of the work that goes on every day at the Newport school.
“I grew up on the Island and my sister, Rebecca, works as a support assistant at the school. We were talking about it and I got in touch with the head about making the film,” he said.
“I did not really know much about the school, although I lived on the Island.
“It is a very open school and the film shows the level of care, attention and patience of people there.”
Headteacher Sue Holman said they planned to use the film to raise awareness of what happens at the school.
She said: “I think it gives a really, really accurate portrayal of the school and it shows the pupils in a really good light.
“I think we can use it in a number of ways. We will be showing it to parents and it will give anyone thinking of joining the school a nice picture and idea of our aims.”
