The procession stretched the length of the town and included a 30-strong troupe of junkanoo performers from the Bahamas.
Performing in their first-ever European procession, the group wowed the crowd lining the route between Star Street and Eastern Gardens.
The parade kicked off a week of arts-related events, which include a long list of concerts, gigs, talks and performances at various venues in the town.
