SPEEDWAYNEW Wightlink Islanders co-promoter Chris Hunt has said this season’s campaign should be successful for the National League outfit — providing they don’t encounter a horrendous run of injuries like last year.
A former rider who rode for a number of clubs including the Wightlink Islanders back in 2001, Chris says the Islanders’ chances of glory are as high.
"Certainly our chances are as good as any other side in the league," he said. "Looking at the teams that have been put together by all the clubs, there’s no out and out favourites to lift the title.
"We all look pretty evenly matched on paper, at least, and I think we’ve got a team that is as good as any other."
The squad includes six riders from last year plus two new signings, Danny Warwick and Dan Blake.
Chris added: "Myself and everyone else here at the club are eagerly looking forward to the season getting underway."
The club’s practice sessions take place at Smallbrook Stadium on March 9, 16 and 23.
