Having lost 3-2 to newly-crowned champions Dagenham & Redbridge 3-2 at the Beveree Stadium on Saturday, Hampton recovered to post a 3-1 success over Walton & Hersham on Monday. This moved them three points clear of third from bottom Carshalton.

Steve Cordery's men stormed into a 3-0 lead in the opening 25 minutes of the game. First Craig Maskell pounced on 13 minutes, scoring after keeper Adrian Blake had spilled his initial effort.

This was added to by Leroy Griffiths after good work from the former Southampton man and Warren Williams. The Beavers grabbed a match-winning third, when Williams swivelled and placed the ball past the helpless Blake.

Walton pulled one back on the half hour when Darren White timed his forward run to perfection and met a free kick to send a shot past Rob Frankland.

Frankland made three superb saves, and at the other end Griffiths lobbed over the bar, following lacklustre kick by Blake.

Two days before Hampton conceded a last-gasp goal which earned Conference bound Dagenham & Redbridge the points.

The East London outfit took the lead in the fifth minute through Jason Broom. Five minutes from half time Dagenham lost goalkeeper Paul Newell for hauling down Leroy Griffiths outside the box and Mark Keen took over between the sticks.

Maskell bagged a quickfire brace either side of the interval to give the Beavers a 2-1 lead. Minutes later Dagenham were awarded a penalty, when Junior McDougald went down in a heap.

The former Brighton player dusted himself down and arrowed the spot kick beyond the reach of James Courtnage. Dominic Naylor was then sent off for Dagenham, for foul and abusive language.

Then ten minutes into injury time, Junior Samuels netted from an acute angle to spark wild scenes of delight among the visitors and set Hampton a target of two wins from their final four games of the season.
