SPEEDWAY WIGHTLINK Islanders have tough task ahead if they want to reach speedway’s National League final, after losing their first leg match against Mildenhall Fen Tigers yesterday (Sunday).
Islanders took on the Tigers in two matches, starting with the play-off semi-final first leg, where they lost 58-36.
Team manager Chris Hunt said: "It is going to be very tough indeed for us to win on aggregate now, but we beat them by 16 points in the National Trophy competition at Smallbrook at the end of August so we all believe we can do it."
In the second match, a National Trophy competition clash, Islanders fared slightly better but still lost 53-39.
But the focus now will be on the second leg of the play-off semi-final, and weather permitting tapes will go up tomorrow (Tuesday) at Smallbrook Stadium at 7.30pm.
