Students have been rubbing shoulders with senior government officials at the Foreign Office.

Accompanied by Harlow MP Bill Rammell, four students from Stewards and Passmores schools met Foreign Secretary Robin Cook who showed them the workings of the busy government office, last Thursday.

Paul Boreham and Shelley Griftwood from Passmores, and Johanna Frazer and Leighton Taylor from Stewards, (pictured right with Mr Rammell) joined 900 other students for the visit, which aimed to attract young people to a career in the diplomatic service.

Mr Rammell said: "Working in the Diplomatic Service is an exciting career option for any young person. Britain needs people from all backgrounds to represent us abroad.''
