ATHLETICS WIGHT Tri members had a hell of a time in their latest race.
Ten triathletes dressed up as devils to take part in the Hellrunner event at an army training ground at Longmoor Camp, Hampshire.
Competitors had to tackle hills, rivers, ponds and bogs as they made their way around the ten-mile course.
The Bog of Doom was among the highlights, as runners had to wade waist deep through the sloppy mud.
Although they started together, the triathletes soon split into small groups, once everyone had settled into the race.
Steve Goodier twisted his ankle after a bad landing, which threatened to spoil his race before he recovered to finish ahead of his club colleagues.
Joe Norman, who was also hurt, and his wife, Mary, crossed the line together with Grant Philbrick, with Ian Cullingworth closely behind.
The next four to finish were Alec Broome. Jan Fletcher, Kev Winchcombe and Richard Bulmer, before Helen Symes brought the team home.
The team said: "It was hard, no doubt about that but it was fun and despite the injuries and aches and pains, we are already looking forward to next year."
Results: Steve Goodier 1.41.13, Joe Norman 1.44.38, Mary Norman 1.44.38, Grant Philbrick 1.44.38, Ian Cullingworth 1.46.58, Alec Broome 1.56.45, Kev Winchcombe 2.03.52, Jan Fletcher 2.03.53, Richard Bulmer 2.05.56, Helen Symes 2.16.17.
