RUNNERS in red turned out in force for Saturday’s parkrun.
A huge gathering of people who have been taking part in this year’s R.E.D January came together at Medina.
The initiative challenged participants to run every day throughout January, with the aim of beating the blues and improving health.
Working alongside MIND, RED January also raised awareness of mental health issues.
Nick Scott-Denness, who was involved on the Island, said: “It's been an amazing month with the Isle of Wight Redders.
“Not only is R.E.D January a brilliant way to kick-start the New Year, but in taking part you are helping to raise awareness to, and open up the conversation about mental health and the charity MIND.
“This year so many more people have taken part and with the help of the media, have shared their daily stories, not only on the Island but across the country.
“R.E.D January has now become an amazing annual event that gets people into some form of exercise every day, from short walks or runs to the shop to cross country and the amazing parkrun at Medina.
“And for the inspirational people in red T-shirts, January 2018 has been awesome, with many runners completing well over 100 miles.
“I am very privileged to be able to say I did run everyday in January with the most motivational, caring people, who want to highlight mental health.”
