IT WAS a battle of the Island’s top darts stars in the final of the inaugural Shanklin Darts Open at Mad Cow last weekend.

The two qualifiers for the PDC UK Open, Tony Broughton and Keegan Brown, met at the oche, with Tony winning a thriller.

Broughton made the final by beating Brenda Dyer 4-0, while Keegan defeated Gavin Hicks 4-1. During the match, Keegan hit seven 180s and a ten-dart leg, with a 140 finish.

In the final, Keegan took the early initiative but Tony hit back, winning the next three legs to take what seemed to be a commanding lead. Back came Keegan, winning the next two legs to level. The players traded legs and were tied at 5-5 but Tony took the final leg, with a 124 finish, to win the cash prize.
