BEACH soccer will kick off again on Sunday, with an IW team set to tackle sides in a national event for the first time.
A 26-strong squad, selected from Island clubs, has been assembled to take on the likes of Arsenal and Portsmouth beach soccer teams in the English Beach Soccer National Championships, which will be played over six events.
The first will be held in London’s Loxford Park, hosted by Arsenal, on Sunday.
The IW event will take place on Sunday, July 9, the day after the UK Super Cup in Ryde.
Coach Luke Kerr said: “It’s great to be playing alongside teams like Arsenal, who really help to raise the profile of the sport.
“We have come together on the Island to select the strongest squad possible, for the good of the IW.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to Ryde Town Council for providing us a grant to help with our marketing, and to Isle Create for helping us develop our online profile.”
