GOLFA TOP score of nett 70 was not enough for Clive Beard to win the George Lewis Cup at Osborne Golf Club last week.
Anyone who had won monthly medal competitions throughout the last year was eligible to win the cup, and the April monthly medal contest served as its finale.
Challenging conditions meant no sub-par scores were returned, and although Clive won the Division 1 element, he did not qualify for the Cup. As a result, second-placed Kim Hopcroft, with a score of 71, took the trophy.
Third was Kieron Little, with 72.
In Division 2, Peter Catchpole came first with 71, with Gary Todd second on 73, on countback from Tony Lake.
Club captain Barry Geary won Division 3 with 75, one ahead of Roger Cooper (21) and two ahead of Roger Neill.
