BEACH SOCCERTHE Bees were flying high once again after retaining their beach soccer league title.
Their victory followed two days of action on the sand at Appley, with eight qualifying teams battling it out in the League Super Final.
The pick of the weekend’s 136 goals came from Jamie Harding, who hit an unstoppable left-foot drive into the corner of the net.
Caymen Collins, of Sandown Sociedad, was crowned young player of the weekend, while senior player of the weekend went to Dan Squibb, of WKR Santos, for his impressive work rate.
The Bees began the weekend in blistering form, beating Sporting Calbourne 7-2 and then taking on Wight Stripes in the semi final.
The Stripes met the league winners on the back of their 7-5 victory over Shanklin Sharks but could not maintain their early lead against The Bees, who won 8-3.
The other semi final featured Ryde Sports, who had beaten Sandown Sociedad 4-3, and WKR Santos, who thumped BSC Galaxy 10-2.
A more relaxed affair, the second semi saw Dan Squibb causing problems for Ryde Sports and England keeper Sam Webb in fine shot-stopping form. Santos came out winners in a 7-2 victory.
The final was played to the sound of Fat Samba and it was the Bees who showed real Brazilian class when star man GC Giancovich scored twice to ensure the Bees defended their title in a 5-1 victory.
All 12 league teams meet again this weekend to compete in the league cup at Appley.
