BINSTEAD Corinthians were crowned the winners of the first youth futsal event on the Island, the Elite Soccer U16 League.

They won the tournament, held over five weeks, by just a point from Ryde Revolution, after beating Binstead Flamenco 8-3 in their final game of the campaign.

Also competing in the league were Solent Santos and Niton Youth.

Jake Hayward was the league’s top goalscorer, and Ryde Revolution’s Jake Toogood won the best goalkeeper prize.

Kish Kishto, who ran the league, thanked everyone involved and added: "All the players love the game and we have seen lots of talents."

The event was sponsored by Elite Soccer, RCT Trophies, Ryde Taxis, Islandfootball Focus and Air Mauritius.
