In the vet70 category, Jonathon Norton took on old stager Steve Lee and Lee was delighted to beat the young pretender by more than half a lap to take the crown once again.
The 10,000m championship takes place at the same venue on Tuesday at 7.30pm.
The club’s summer series continued with two multi-terrain events, one in Sandown and one in Ryde.
The nominated-time Sandown event, the Winford loop, was won by husband and wife Bridget and Andy Lewis, with Rod Parker fastest.
Ryde runners took on the 5.7-mile Seagrove Saunter, with nomination points going to Elaine Parry and Pete Still fastest.
