Cook rustles up a Scarborough storm

MOTORCYCLE TRIALSReigning British Ladies champion Becky Cook has staked her claim for this year’s title after an emphatic win at round three of this year’s championship in Scarborough.

The Top Trial rider was slightly behind after a slow start but over the course of the day, began to claw back the deficit.

However, with the Youth C and D Championship being run on the same day there were some queues which took up a lot of the five-and-a-half hour time limit. This left Becky with only 37 minutes to do the last lap in the hot and demanding conditions.

She revelled in the pressure and, with the help of her minder, Craig Talbot, hit every section with confidence. However, time seemed to be against her as she arrived at the tricky last section with just 30 seconds of her overall time limit left.

But she again showed what she was capable of by dropping just one mark, for an overall score of 26, way ahead of rivals Emma Bristow (45) and Donna Fox (94).

She said: "I’m so happy to have won today, especially after the shaky start and the way my wrist held up on the demanding last lap. Me and Craig worked really well today, the bike performed brilliantly as always and we got the result we wanted."
