COWES Sports produced a stunning comeback to defeat Sydenhams Wessex League Division 1 leaders Andover Town today (Saturday).

The Yachtsmen went behind twice at Westwood Park but goals from John McKie and Jared Wetherick levelled things up.

And with 15 minutes left, McKie struck again to seal an excellent win.

There was little to cheer about at Beatrice Avenue as East Cowes Vics lost 4-1 to Amesbury Town. The Islanders were 2-0 down at half time but a brilliant 40-yard lob from Chris Elliott got them back into the game.

However, two late penalties, and a red card for Blaise Franklin, ended their hopes.

In the Premier Division, Newport were also left disappointed, as they went 2-1 down at home to Totton and Eling. Iain Seabrook scored for the hosts.
