John Still was in a reflective mood after angry chants of "Still out" echoed around a rain-soaked Underhill on Tuesday as Barnet slipped to their fifth defeat in six league games.

The Bees are still just seven points above the relegation zone after losing 3-0 to Farnborough.

Their fellow strugglers, Chester, Scarborough and Stalybridge have all been winners. Scarborough and Stalybridge were successful on Saturday, and Chester scored a fine 4-1 win at Nuneaton on Tuesday.

"I've been in the game a long time and can understand the fans' disappointment," said Still. "Our second-half performance against Farnborough was very poor, as poor as anything we have produced all season. The defence showed an alarming lack of confidence, and committed several unforced errors."

Still took over in the hot seat for the second time in March, following the departure of Tony Cottee.

"I made it quite clear that I did not want to be a manager again. But I agreed to help out the club during difficult times until somebody else came in to do the job " he said.

"We were grooming Ian Culverhouse to take over as manager, and he was offered the job. But he didn't want it, preferring to resume his previous role of youth coach, and joined Leyton Orient."

"It hasn't been easy this season after the club had to sell players to stabilise the financial position following relegation. We've needed an experienced centre forward, but the money isn't available to buy one."
