SCHOOLS are being urged to get involved in National Science Week, which takes place next month.

The event, which tries to interest people in science, is organised by the British Association and will start on March 8 for one week.

National Science Week is part of National Science Year that runs until this September.

The week will be launched in the Albert Hall with a Science Discovery Day on March 7.

There will also be live on-line conferences for 16 to18-year-olds which will allow them to discuss how their lives will change over the next 20 years thanks to technology.

At the Wellcome Trust's National Festival of Drama a special event called Science Centrestage will be performed. Younger children from 11 to 16 will collaborate with local actors and scientists to develop drama about science and its effect on their lives.
