MOTOR SPORT JOHN Dutch cut it fine to win the IW Car Club’s overall unsealed surface championship title at Knighton last month.
Going into the final round, the Mini driver — in his first full season competing in the IW Car Club Championship — faced a strong challenge from rivals Neil Glasbey, Darren Taylor and Steve Brett but knew he had to finish no lower than fifth to take the crown.
Even though he had a bad day, he managed to finish fourth, and gain enough points to finish top of the table with 242 points, one ahead of Glasbey and three ahead of Taylor.
The result also put John top of class 5 in the championship. The other classes were won by Wayne Hole (class 1), Dean Long (class 2), Steve Brett (class 3), Glasbey (class 4) and Vicky Cox (ladies).
