A series of half-day conferences throughout this year will look at organisations trying to support disabled people looking for work, entering further education and taking up Government training programmes.
The impact of two new Government agencies, the Learning and Skills Council and a Small Business Service, to be introduced next April, were discussed at the first of the West London Disability Partnership (WLDP) conferences on May 8.
The agencies are part of a Government modernisation agenda to shake up the delivery of skills training and support given to businesses and will impact on organisations which support disabled people and training services.
"There are a myriad of agencies and bodies involved in assisting disabled people who are seeking work," said a WLDP spokesman.
"The current systems can be complex and the 'journey' through them difficult. The WLDP works to simplify processes at a local level for the benefit of disabled people and employers."
