Finals’ fun

Some of the winners from Plessey Indoor Bowls Club’s finals day.

MARTIN Butchers was a double singles’ winner at the Plessey Club Indoor Bowls Knock Out finals last week.

He took the two-wood final, beating Mike Cox 15-10, and then went on to defeat Ray Byham 21-12 in the men’s singles.

The ladies’ singles was won by Sally Burton, who defeated Debbie Crews 21-14, but Debbie was soon celebrating as she paired with John Crews to win the mixed pairs’ final, beating Margaret Arnell and Pete Clayton 21-20, retaining their title.

The fours was a close-fought game and finished with Graeme Wood, Lewis Marshall, Viv Jenkins and Pete Clayton winning by one shot, beating Steve Lewis, Roger Hendey, Roger Payne and Greg Pullar, 21-20.

Steve and Roger Payne then paired up to play against Viv Jenkins and Ray Ager in the Australian Pairs, winning 28-8.

Clearly on a roll, Steve and Roger then teamed with Ray to win the triples, retaining their title. They defeated Ben Bradley, Joyce Utteridge and Fred Sly 23-7.

Ray and Steve won the pairs, defeating John Crews and James Butchers 22-11, while Pete Clayton defeated Vic Lewis 21-8 in the plate final.
