A PERSHORE Tennis Centre player will be hoping for Wimbledon progress when the tournament starts tomorrow.
Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi, 27, helped the centre reach the final of the National Premier League play-offs.
The Pakistan number one, an experienced Davis Cup player, takes on lone Great Britain qualifier Lee Childs in the men's singles first round.
A win could see either player face Marat Safin in round two, while awaiting the winner of that match is likely to be Roger Federer.
Qureshi fought his way through qualifying rounds, eventually beating number four seed Frank Dancevic, of Canada, to reach his goal.
Although he has twice qualified for Wimbledon's men's doubles, this is the first time he has reached the first round of the singles. He is the first Pakistani to have qualified for the main draw in 31 years.
Qureshi partnered Dan Kiernan in several Pershore matches en route to the premier league finals.
He then linked up with Frenchman Jean-Francois Bachelot in the finals only to lose to Childs and Luke Bourgeois.
