Footballers and cricketers hit the jackpot over the weekend when they received a cash boost of £20,000.
Dominic Raab, MP for Esher and Walton, presented the cheque on behalf of the Football Foundation, to Claygate Royals Football Club on April 9.
The funding boost will go towards a new multi-sport community clubhouse on Claygate Recreation Ground, which is hoped to be up and running in nine months.
The new building will have more space and more modern facilities to accommodate club meetings and wider community use.
Dominic Raab MP said: “This is a terrific boost for the clubhouse project. I am delighted the Football Foundation have agreed to support the brilliant work being done by Nigel Abbott and his team to deliver this invaluable local facility.
Promoting local sport is important for health, fitness and community spirit – the clubhouse will be a wonderful family hub for the village.”
