FORMER Grays boss Mark Stimson has emerged as an early contender to become Peterborough United's new manager.
Posh Director of Football, Barry Fry, has confirmed that he has contacted Stimson about the vacancy at the League Two club and has praised the 38-year-old's track record.
Fry said: "I have contacted Mark and I have spoken to the owner of Grays, Mike Woodward. I have not offered him or anyone else the job, but Mark's record is very impressive.
"Grays have come form nowhere to be one of the top Conference clubs and they've won the FA Trophy for the past two years under Mark.
"His teams play excellent football and he is clearly one of the up and coming managers in the game. Mike Woodward speaks very highly of him and he's certainly one to consider."
Stimson quit the Blues on Tuesday just 48 hours from leading his side to a second successive FA Trophy but admitted he had no definitive job offers.
He is also said to be attracting interest from MK Dons and Millwall.
