TWO goals from Josh Younie helped Newport secure their first win of the season on Saturday.
Younie put Newport ahead against Bournemouth in the 19th minute, and he sealed the win with a second-half penalty, after the hosts had equalised.
Cowes Sports lost 1-0 to Lymington Town at Westwood Park.
Connor Furmidge missed a penalty in the first half, before the visitors snatched a goal close to half time.
In Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League, East Cowes Vics let a two-goal lead slip, as they drew 2-2 at home to Alton.
Vics had led 2-0 at half time through Jimmi Burton and Dexter Malin, before the visitors mounted a fightback after the interval.
All three of the Island’s senior sides are in midweek action.
On Tuesday, Cowes head to Tadley Calleva in the Hampshire Senior Cup, while Newport host Petersfield Town.
East Cowes Vics welcome Fawley in the same competition on Wednesday night.
