Get a life!

I am surprised A Shepherd can be so upset about dogs fouling the pavements (News Shopper, November 28) when just a general look around the area shows bigger problems of vandalism, graffiti, garden walls pushed over, broken glass, litter, used hypodermics, broken shrubs and trees in our local parks. Also, judging by the number of police boards asking for assistance, we seem to have our fair share of robberies and assaults. So why worry about a bit of dog poo. Get a life.

Bring back R1

I read that Mr Dave Datens, chairman of Oprington & District Travel Association, is very pleased with the changes to bus routes (News Shopper, November 28). I would like to point out Farnborough Village has been forgotten. We have lost the R1 bus which was very important to us, there is no direct route through Orpington High Street. Many elderly and disabled people cannot cope with changing buses. Despite opposition from the local communities, our plea was ignored. Can we please have our R1 bus back?

It's Christmas

Re: Do we defend our Englishness or embrace other cultures? (News Shopper, November 28). How sad that Luton decided to change the name of Christmas so Muslim's should not be offended. I wonder if the authorities in a Muslim country would consider changing the name of a Muslim festival in order not to offend Christians? If we are all to be accepting of each other's faith and culture, why should the use of the word Christmas, part of the Christian calendar, be so abhorrent to a Muslim?

They're bullies

To attack the growing anti-war Remembrance Day gatherings in Bromley (News Shopper, November 28) indicates the mentality of the war-mongering bully, who has already this year marred what should have been the start of a new age of peace, reconciliation, and siblingly love. People who want peace show the way humanity must go if we are to survive on this vulnerable planet.
