TWO IW darts players have made it to the national finals of the Winmau World Masters in Hull in October, after progressing from a regional qualifier.
Gavin Hicks, sponsored by The Office, Sandown, and young star Alex Hall, both made it through their games at the qualifier, which took place at Royal Wootton Bassett on Sunday.
Gavin played some excellent darts in his place, winning his first two games in straight legs, and then the third two sets to one. He then came up against another IW player, Tony Broughton, and defeated him 2-1.
The final was a whitewash for Gavin, as he qualified for the men’s finals in style.
Meanwhile, Alex, 16, of Cowes, made it through to the youth section finals, with three straight leg wins before a 3-1 win in the semi-finals and then a 3-0 win in the final.
Six other Islanders took part in the event but were unable to progress, they were Broughton, Brenda Dyer, Shirley Smith, Debbie Hatch, Sam Pink and Shane Scott-Denness.
Alex is looking for sponsorship for his trip to Hull, and anyone interested in supporting him can find out more by calling Bill Hall on 01983 295752.
