There are many permutations that can happen at the foot of the table. A Robins win and they are safe - anything else and third from bottom Aylesbury, who host Gravesend or even Boreham Wood, who entertain Chesham could escape.

Manager Gary Bowyer is confident the Robins can get something out of the North Hampshire opponents.

"This game without a doubt is the biggest of the season. We either sink or swim.

"I have said to the players for weeks that I would not like to go into the final game needing to win or draw to stay up. Now it has come to the last game the players need to produce."

But Bowyer is aware that consistency is the name of the game for the Robins, having been dogged by a disastrous run of results mid-season.

"Since we were bottom at the end of February the players have performed brilliantly.

"We have only lost three out of the last 16 league games which is a testament to how well they have done."

The Robins boss recalls the events of 12 months ago when his team went into a final game in a win or bust encounter with Bishop's Stortford. Former Robin Gus Hurdle scored a memorable 30-yard winner in injury time - sentencing Stortford to the drop and keeping Bowyer's men afloat.

"I still remember that day well," recalls Bowyer. "I had brought Gus [Hurdle] and Richard Newbery on in a hope we would get a goal.

"But when Gus scored that goal it was party time, I think it was a mixture of elation, relief and I hope we never go through that again."

Now Bowyer finds his men in that situation again - with George Borg and the north Hampshire giants.

"I watched them at Slough in midweek. They looked a tired team having played a number of league games in a short space of time.

"However, I have a game plan and we will set out to give them a hard time.

"I also hope that after our defeat on Monday the players go out with more drive and passion."

With Lee Akers out with a fractured toe and Sean Daly and Bowyer suspended, the Robins boss will go with the same side that lost to Hendon on Monday.

Sutton United weren't good enough

Us boss John Rains insists there will be changes at Gander Green Lane as his side contemplate relegation back to the Ryman League.

Those set to leave the club in the summer are unclear, but it is thought Rains wants to inject some badly needed new blood into the side.

He said: "Some players will stay and some will go. Over the 42 games this season it is clear that we haven't been good enough.

"I will assess the situation after the game with Hereford this Saturday and then go from there."

Those thought to be heading out of the exit door include Aidan Newhouse, Gwynne Berry, Andy Riley, Paul Sears and Danny Brooker.

Before Rains informs the unlucky individuals, Us travel to Hereford for their last league game of the season, looking to finish their disappointing campaign on a high.

"Hereford is another tough game for us," commented Rains. "At the moment the players will be looking forward having a break because we have had a gruelling run of matches."

Rains has several doubts over the fitness of Mark Watson, who missed Wednesday's home match against champions Kidderminster with a hamstring injury and Andy Riley with a wrist injury.

"Apart from these two we will wait and see who is available to us on the day."

Having gone down in their first season the Us boss is anticipating the gulf between the Ryman and conference to widen.

"That can only get higher. I shudder to think what the difference might be in the future between the feeder leagues.

"It is significant that the three promoted teams last season have struggled. Altrincham are one of those who might join us and after a fine start Nuneaton have been a little anxious recently."
