Drinkers narrowly escaped injury when a man threw a firebomb into the doorway of a Wembley Park pub.

Firefighters and police were called to the Crock of Gold pub in Bridge Road just before 8pm on Thursday last week after the man set light to and then threw a partially-filled five-litre petrol can at the door.

The door and carpet around the entrance were damaged but no one was injured and the pub remained open.

No one at the pub was available to comment.

o  Christopher Judge, 50, of Elmstead Avenue, Wembley Park was charged in connection with the incident at Wembley Police station on Friday.

He appeared before Brent magistrates on Saturday and was remanded in custody.

He was due to appear at the court again this morning (Thursday).
