AT 31, golfer Darren Masterton has become Osborne Golf Club’s youngest ever captain.
Masterton, who has been a member of the club for 17 years, has taken over from Roger Cook.
His drive-in, when the new captain is officially announced, was held on Sunday.
As well as being the youngest captain in the club’s history, which goes back more than 100 years, he is also the lowest handicapper to have served in the role, playing off scratch.
Masterton said: “I like a chat, so I am not at all worried about giving speeches at the presentations.
“I’m really looking forward to it.
“Osborne is a great club, we have a good membership and there are some really good people involved, so I’ll do my best to do them proud.”
