Clubs and individuals involved in Island football have been recognised at an awards night hosted by the Hampshire FA.
The Hampshire FA Grassroots Awards was held at Southampton FC’s St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
The IW Saturday League was presented with a Hampshire FA Respect Award, in recognition of its work to tackle disciplinary issues.
As previously reported, Ryde Saints FC received their Charter Standard Award for the progress they have made in developing the club over recent seasons, and Newport Youth FC were also winners of a club award.
The efforts of individuals were also celebrated, with West Wight FC’s Dave Thurman winning the Groundsman of the Year Award.
Island referee Ian Smith, also the league’s honorary secretary, was recognised for his outstanding contribution to refereeing and Ken Morris received a certificate of commendation for his service to Island football.
IW Saturday League registration secretary Rodney McCarthy attended the awards with Ian Smith.
He said: “It was terrific to see so many winners from the Island.”
