HOCKEYIW Ladies II 5, IBM Nomads 1
DESPITE a slow start, IW Ladies were able to beat visiting IBM Nomads with a late flurry, and keep up their good form.
The team were keen to follow on from their strong 4-0 win against Fleet and Ewshot the week before but the start did not go quite to plan, as Nomads took a 1-0 lead inside the first 15 minutes.
But IW came back strong and equalised through Evie Conrad, who was able top get on the end of a strong cross to level the score before the break.
After a half time talk and a few positional changes, IW came out strong with some great attacking play through the middle, finishing with a goal from Alice Cannell.
IW continued to attack IBM’s defence throughout the second half, winning some attacking short corners, but were unable to make any of them count.
IBM had their own counter-attacks and shorts corners but were unable to close on IW’s lead, with IW keeper Louise Simmonds making some great saves and a goal-line clearance by Katy Ednay.
Following some more great play right through from IW’s defence, the hosts extended their lead with another goal from Cannell, closely followed by goals from Jess Hardman and Hannah Rimmer.
IW: Bartholomew, Barton, Bridger, Cannell, Court, Conrad, Denness, Ednay, Fraser, Fishburn, Hardman, Holmes, Rimmer, Sanders, Simmonds, Williams.
