VENTNOR boxers gave it their all in a meeting at Dublin University last weekend, and got their reward.

Danny Green won his bout with a unanimous decision, Daryl Simpkins won his bout with a third-round knock-out, and youngest member Aaron McHugh won his match in the first round.

Coaches Darren Green and Skinny Conroy travelled with the trio for the event. Skinny said: "The Irish lads were exceptionally tough and our lads really had to work hard for their victories."

It has been a successful couple of weeks for the club, which has been enjoying training sessions with members of the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment — several members of which are from the IW.

At a dinner show in Waterlooville, Doug Snape won his first bout for the club with a hard-fought victory on points over Danny Mitchell from the host club.

Simpkins took on Lewis Brookes from Gym01 in Portsmouth, and also performed excellently to win with a unanimous decision.

Newport Phoenix Boxing Club’s Chad Cooper had his first win in Bognor Regis last week.

He took on L. Everitt from the host club and won with a technical knock-out in the first round.
