GOLF FRESHWATER golfer Dave Green has qualified for an all expenses paid trip to the Algarve for the grand final of the 2013 HowDidiDo National Matchplay pairs championship in February.
Dave, a member of Freshwater Bay Golf Club, together with Martin Rudderham, from Test Valley, secured one of just two available spots at the competition’s last regional final at the Macdonald Botley Park Hotel Golf and Spa, Southampton.
They will now enjoy complimentary return flights to Faro, a stay at the Monte da Quinta Club, on the Quinta do Lago estate, and five days’ golf on the renowned South and Laranjal courses, with the prestigious title up for grabs.
Four competitions culminate at the grand final — singles, pairs, mixed pairs and senior pairs — with a total of 32 golfers from across the UK fighting it out.
Each will have played up to four qualifying rounds merely to reach the regional final, with the knock-out rounds taking place between June and September.
