THERE was agony once again for Islander Jack Grundy at the West Wight Triathlon, who was beaten into second place for the second year in a row.

Despite having the fastest swim leg and fastest run on Sunday, his bike leg let him down and allowed Robert Young to take the men’s title by just over a minute.

The ladies’ title was won by Anna Sykes-Brown, in a time of 1.51.18, with Lucy Wells the top Islander in fourth, in 1.57.42.

The team event was won by Rosie Cheeks, who finished in 1.29.50.

A record number of entries took on the challenge, with almost 200 individuals and 40 teams taking part.
